Q: Why do I need High-Speed Wireless Internet service?
A: When you download web pages or files, it will go "ZIP!" instead of your computer having the "WWW Sickness" (World Wide Wait). Our speed is similar to DSL or Cable Modems. |
Q: What is a static IP address and how can I get one?
A: A static IP address is a permanently assigned address (example: 248.192.99.6) to your location. Most providers use a dynamically assigned IP that changes. Most high speed providers charge an EXTRA $10/month to have this option. We include it FREE! |
| Q: What equipment do I need to get High-Speed Wireless Internet?
A: Your computer must have a correctly functioning Ethernet port. You do not need a phone line for our service. Pentium class computers with Windows 98 or later operating system are recommended. A properly maintained virus program and firewall are highly recommended. |
Q: How do I request service?
A: You can come by Doug's Electronics at 213 West Fourth Street in Holton, Kansas, call us at 364-2016 (FAX 364-2108) or e-mail us at dougshack@holtonks.net. We just need your contact information and what level of service you desire. We may do a "site survey" first to determine your serviceability. We will then contact you to schedule an installation and confirm the details of your service and the costs involved. No money is required until you commit to our service. |
Q: Can my internet always be on?
A: Yes, your internet will be on whenever your computer is turned on. |
Q: Why does wireless work better than dial-up service?
A: Dial-Up is slower, because telephone systems were never designed to provide digital Internet service. |
